Since the BGM gear improves both precision and torque, I don't think this motor has any benefit, but rather the opposite because of added weight. I never had any problems with not having enough extrusion power with a dual drive BGM extruder.

Was my first thinking as well, that's why I offered the TL only. I think it is a good compromise between low weight (not yet a pancake stepper) but still somehow high torque.
Still I get frequently questions since the 0.9 stepper gets pretty hot - I never compared measuremtns with the 1.8 before honestly.
On top I am still trying to find the root cause why it currently stucks very often on my X-Plus setup. So I might do the tests anyway . Steppertype (stepper as such I changed), PCB and cable are the only components I did not replace yet.On the other hand 60g more weight in case of qidi most likely does not really matter for most of us, as not used as fast speed printer. I am def. looking more for a as much as possible reliable solution.

Well as an option is not a bad idea.
I'm using a Trianglelab pancake stepper that's 85g lighter than stock motor (70g with heatsink on which I use), done a few hundred hours now without problems and no clogs, it's plenty strong enough due to the BMG gearing.

Which one are you using? Could be then a
- light - pancake TL (I have some 1.8 lying around https://de.aliexpress.com/item/32768043304.html)
- universal - current TL 0.9
- robust - 40mm 1.8 LDO in combination with a 4020 fan instead of 4010.
option. On the Voron I also use pancake with BMG style drive + Dragon since hundred of hours PC prints. Without issues. Even temperatur seems not to be critical factor sofar (with currently 55C enclosure - on the plus typically 45-50).
-
Yes that's the exact pancake stepper I use, I have a few myself.
BTW you could also offer the TL V6 clone as an option for people on a budget, works perfectly fine too. 4010 fan should be good regardless but I personally use a 4020 on my carriages. For a V6 I would probably stick with 4020 since its heatsink structure isn't nearly as effecient.
Hercules is confirmed to be compatible with X-Max, X-Plus and the newer I-Mate (S).

V6 is planned as well - is also cheaper option to experiment with new filaments Only that the heatbreak can be screwed out that easily I hate. I love fixed mounted design.
I just do not want to expand # of variations too fast for logistics and time to build reason. -

Hallo.

Super fix angekommen, danke.

humebeam - maybe you had already a look at the dialindicator holder - it seems a bit to big to fit into the mounting without sanding. And the hole for the indicator as such works but it has a bit too much tension so I have increase the diameter as well a bit (drill).
-
You must be overextruding, it's fine here But yes, it's a tight fit, clearance is just 0.10 mm, I did not want it to move after insertion. I've printed mine in ABS though, not PC.
The hole diameter for the dial indicator is undersized by design so it grips the steel rod without risk of it sliding up when measuring. I can adjust it and increase the hole diameter slightly. I can also increase the clearance of the dovetail a little. I'll post the update here.
-
BTW the current version you can leave in all the time if you like, it will not hit the frame, at least not on X-Max. Not tested on X-Plus and I-Mate.
