@Olaf

Hello from Portugal
What a great job guys !! Well i have thinking for a long time about get courage to doing something like you did, and after see your thread finally i moved into , my actual setup is SMA Home Manager 2.0 + sma sunny boy 5.0 with 16 panels rec 345w roof in my house, sma sunny boy 6.0 with 12 panels(to add more in future), now the next big project is add more storage system with sun tracker with 16 panels+sunny boy 6.0+sunny island 8.0+2 battery packs leaf 1 and 2 gen+bms and other parts like you did.
1º question is do i really need the Sunny Remote Control once i can access to island remotely ?
2º - SpeedWireModule para o PV WR - did you use these part ?
3º - before you mounting in parallel/series the modules did you charge all first individually ?if yes at what V ?
4º - once i have 96 modules what is your advice about make division for virtually cells BMS ?
5º - as i said i brought gen1 + gen2 leaf battery, can i put them together but spliced in parallel setup ?
i have your list of pieces i gone use same
thanks to all contributions

Hi & warm welcome!!
I will try to answer best I can, others might complement
1) AFAIK yes needed - in rare cases the Island stops working and you need to "boot" it from cold start
2) question is not 100% clear to me - I use BT and Speedwire in parallel, which ist maybe not recommended but works well for my SMAs. I would def. go for SpeedWire connection - BTW I also use it to connect the system to PV out (small script uploading the data fetch via speedvia). You find my system here: https://pvoutput.org/ladder.jsp?tid=1492 (PV part only)
3) What do you mean with put? Assembly I would do is less filled modules - then charge, does not need to be fully charged as system should calibrate later automatically - but you need to run some full, empty cycle to optimize settings as well. Don't go too high or low with voltages! Keep some buffer
4) should be automaically given when you calculate the Voltage you want to run e.g. 48V see RE: Nächstes Projekt: Batteriespeicher für daheim - first you need to get you nominal voltage (S) , then you know what you can put in parallel (p) for capacity and level out cell difference
5) honestly I don't know the detailed difference between Gen1 & Gen2. I would assume you can put them together if same bottom and top voltage. But ensure that the parallel connected modules are all ending up with same capacity otherwise some will always be full first (reach top voltage) and need to be balanced which is not good for BMS and waste of energy.
hope this helps and I did not wrote too much wrong stuff
ah charger: using a standard LiOn 48V charger - sofar luckily only 3 times needed. rest (now many years) system was running without any maintenance
Stay safe and healthy!

Hi
Thanks for the fast answer, love it again !
1-but the new sunny island 8.0 has integrated the SRC, so once i will buy the new sunny island 8.0 still need appart the remote control "to "boot" it from cold start" ?
2-i use also switch lan speedwire into sma so these will do job because i see these part you show in the link but i did see in your setup, because sma has integrated right ?
4- i will go 14 modules in paralell x 7 in series, depends in the extras cells i can get more (+2)
these charger would do the job EV-PEAK A8 1350W DC unfurtunally the A9(cheaper9 only operates 0.1-25a and leaf goes 32A ?
the leaf batteries already brought now will do the list to buy the rest of the parts
Stay safe and healthy too !
Many Thanks Again

On 1) I cannot comment if I have the very old first SI 6H
2) new SMA have speedwire already build in - only old one I had to buy the extra modul
Charger: seems your linked one goes only upto 32V. EV-PEAK A8 Touch Screen DC 1350W 1-8S Charger 11-32V
For 14S you would need 48V (14x3.2V is already above 32V) . Ampere does not really matter for emergency charging it then jsut takes longer.
I am using a 12,24,32,48V Universal Charger which works fine. Unfortunately no sticker regarding brand but looks like import from China.

thanks again really help me understand now, now will order the si+rec pieces+universal charger

Regarding charger jsut ensure that it can charge LiOn and right Voltage range.

found this one, should slowly do the job

58,8/14 -> 4.2V per Cell looks OK. Ensure that you get a version with matching Portugal powercord/plug if possible.

Charger arrived was fast !
Already start plans before batteries arrives, SI Island and Rec Bms kit with bluetooth order also so now it just a matter of time ;), btw i brought here an bargain rack Compaq U42 with a lot of acessories !

Blown away by voltage - shiiiet - really bad luck - if nothing else happened good luck.
I would take https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32803733726.html because I am typically impatient

Hope someone else can answer this - currently I am not using the system as powerbackup for the house. Criticial devices are power by seperate indivdual UPS. But if regulations will continue as they are I might in a few year cut of the grid - sofar I need the grid as charging two EVs + some 24/7 running servers cannot be powered by a small batterie as backup.

Hallo zusammen,
bin erst jetzt auf den Beitrag gekommen.
Eine saubere Sache und sehr informative, respekt.
Da ich an BYD Zellen komme (Second Life), möchte ich mein System erweitern.
Bereits ein SI6.0 mit Speicher vorhanden.
Mein Plan:
