Qidi Extruder Upgrade Icarus 1.x Mod

I had a look at relocating the PCB holder (Qidiot gave me the idea) for Icarus, there definitely is NO space for that in front of the blower fan, not without redoing the whole parts cooling system and relocating the blower fan. It would hit the Orbiter extruder.
Current design stays, I'm very happy with it.
Hercules is larger and the BMG extruder is slimmer in that direction so it would work there but it would be in the way of extruder access, I don't want that and I see no benefit in its relocation anyway.
Both designs are stable and pretty much final, at least for the 1.X series, who knows what the future brings? The only changes I have planned at the moment are to the ribbon cable holders. Adding a heated insert for Hercules and possibly straightening them both up now that the Automatic Ribbon Cable Holder is released.
One thing I haven't really spent time on is the parts cooling fan duct for both setups, they're originally remixes and I will redesign them properly from scratch, I think they can definitely be improved.

That looks awesome. Prusament PC Blend?

Hi zusammen,
Danke!

I bought mine from Caribou 3D but they are out of stock now. Ratrig have them in stock, they're in Portugal so should get here quickly.

I built my first Icarus with Extrudr GreenTec Pro in black, unfortunately the GreenTec Pro can withstand high temperatures, but is quite soft, and material creep under constant load led to a loosening of the bearings in the carrier. Also, the mount for the Dragon got softer and softer (see pics) and the fan duct melted on the right side (very curious about the fix in the new fan duct ).. That's why I didn't try to print in PC yet. To prevent a complete stop of production ('til now, I only have the X-Max, Voron 0 will begin to build next month I hope) I quickly printed the new version in Extudr ASA neon orange (narrow version fits perfectly). Up to now, everything works fine, the 40x40 fan is a true relief for my ears Next step will be an Icarus made out of PolyMax PC FR..

Iatraliptes I tried Greentec Pro Carbon myself, not sure how they got the heat deflection values but it's rubbish, it doesn't withstand heat good at all. Same goes for Priline PC-CF. Too bad I bought two spools of each.
They Both look nice though but that's about it.
I'm pretty sure the orange ASA carriage you printed holds up much better. Polymax PC-FR should be perfect for you.

I did heat tests last year using their material. None of my test parts was surviving the heat. Then I contacted them and answer was only if baked properly (I did this) AND if wall thicknis etc. pp.... so my summary only under very specific conditions which in real life will never occur. On the other hand standard cheap PLA baked properly was easily withstanding 120C. Problem is unpredictable shrinking while "baking". Works only for non functional parts if you find the right PLA.
Since then I use, ASA, ABS and PC only.

Solltest du die morgen bekommen und würdest mir einen abgeben, wäre ich dir sehr dankbar Andernfalls würde ich es sonst über Ratrig probieren - thx for the tip humebeam

I tested your newest fanduct - I like the changes but looking at the result there is a small area to improve print- or slicerability
Or ist this gap intentionally?

humebeam one question.. is there a series of X-Max‘es without screw holes? I didn‘t find a location to mount your cable holder.. 🤷🏻♂️

It's a slicer thing, it is very thin there. I'll make it a little thicker for now and upload today.
I'm in the middle of testing version 1.2, it is completely redesigned from scratch.

OK - than I will wait for the next version the original one works anyway.

That's the downside of a chinese printer. They change hardware revisions constantly for no appearing reason. My printer is a little older most likely.
If you want to use it, which I think is a good idea, you can mark and drill two small holes (2.5 mm drill), remove the rear panel to ensure you hit nothing.

Version 1.2 in testing. My overhangs test in four directions 65-75 degrees used.
